TENNIS at

The Courts
There are 5 hard courts, all with floodlights and all overlooked from the club house verandah.

Club Tennis
Club sessions take place on Saturday afternoon and Sunday mornings when full members are welcome to play in informally organised sets. In addition, there are club sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings - these are informal in the summer but, in the winter, because of the need for floodlights, they are based on pre-arranged rotas.

FOR DETAILED COURT AVAILABILITY, SEE TABLE BELOW

In floodlit play, members pay £1.40 per court for a half-hour session.
Midweek members can play at anytime other than weekends.
Practice members (those whose ability is currently being assessed for full membership), have their own reserved courts on Monday evenings.
On certain weekday mornings, there are sessions organised by groups of members themselves. Often these need new players. There is the Retired Men's Group on Thursday mornings (see below) and a popular Ladies group on Wednesday mornings. There are Junior and Senior Open Days during the year.

Match Tennis
The club runs 4 men's teams, 4 ladies teams and a mixed team all of whom play in local and county leagues. In addition there are 2 Vets and Junior teams who have a full programme of matches throughout the summer. There are also a number of friendly matches with teams from around Surrey. Any member can signify a desire to play in these and, indeed, the club welcomes members who will take upon themselves the task of organising and captaining such matches.

Junior Tennis
A very active section exists for juniors who have a regular session on Friday evenings from 5pm. Daytime events are arranged for them on certain days during school holidays under the supervision of experienced members. In addition, daytime coaching is available at these times. Short Tennis is available for the under 8's.

The Thursday Morning Retired Men's Group
This group meets every Thursday morning throughout the year and provides, if not the fastest play in the Club, some very good tennis, first-class gamesmanship and good company. New members are welcome, need not necessarily be retired nor certified medically fit. Sessions start from about 9am onwards. Just turn up.

Left to right: Mike Anthony, Derek Weller, Peter Kaiser, Harvey Smith, John Brotherhood,
Mike Goodwin, David Stantiall, Nick Bygrave, David Lampert, Bernie Hill
